Ensight has become one of my passion projects. I initially challenged myself to see how I could apply design thinking to the ever growing problem of climate change. My primary goal being to understand the challenges surrounding the issue, what people actually thought and providing an educational resource for the topic.

User Research
I started this project with one simple statistic:
"Studies have shown that a combined 51% of Americans either deny that climate exist or believe that it is not caused by humans."
To better understand why this may be, I surveyed about 111 people across the country.
From the survey data, I determined that the information available to people, although based in facts, is largely unrelatable to them as individuals.
Defining the Problem:
Based on the data I found, the goal of this project is to create a solution that would inform more people about how climate change may affect them personally.
To better frame the problem I came up with 3 "how might we's"
1. How might we help people understand the affects of climate change on them personally?
2. How might we incentivize people to learn more about climate change?
3. How might we help people take action?
The Solution:
Ensight is an educational mobile application for iOS and Android that serves to inform users about the affects of climate change in their local area.
The app accomplishes this in 3 ways:
How might we help people understand the affects of climate change on them personally?
As a user, I understand the overall affects of climate change on the world, but do not completely understand how climate change might affect me personally. In Ensight, users use an interactive map to navigate to points of interest where they can use the augment reality interface to learn and gather relative information about how climate change will affect that immediate area.
How might we incentivize people to learn more about climate change?
As a user, I care about climate change, but I find it difficult to search for relevant information about it. Ensight encourages users to learn more about climate change by rewarding them with points and achievements for finding new information in their local areas. Points and achievement can be tracked and viewed via their profile page.
How might we help people take action?
As a user, I want to combat climate change but I don't know where to start. As users earn points, they can spend those point for vouchers/discounts with the Amazon Green store page. In order to make the process of picking rewards easier, rewards are presented in a list to make rewards easy to compare and browse.
Accompanying Marketing Campaign:

The campaign serves to not only promote the app but as a display for points of interest to users.
